Middle Eastern Dance Classes with Saroya

Saroya offers Middle Eastern dance classes for students at all levels. The beginner class is an introduction to the basic movements of belly dance, with emphasis on technique, combination steps, identifying and dancing to the various Middle Eastern rhythms, finger cymbals (zills), and short dance routines. For any age, height, or weight, it's a great way to stretch and tone Egyptian style. No previous dance training is required. Proper attire for class is comfortable exercise clothing.

Students in the intermediate/advanced level class will continue to build on their knowledge of the dance. Saroya emphasizes techniques such as layering movements, perfecting isolations, special props including veil and cane, and using zills as an integral part of the dance. Students will begin improvisation to short pieces of music as well as writing and performing their own routines.

To Decatur School of Ballet- Decatur School of Ballet is located at the south end of Church Street, just past downtown Decatur. From the north: take I-285 east/south to Highway 78 west (toward Decatur). Highway 78 will merge onto Lawrenceville Hwy. Turn left at the 3rd stop light onto Church Street. Go 2 ¼ miles down Church Street to the very end. The Decatur School of Ballet is the last building on the right side of Church Street. Park anywhere in the studio parking lot. There is also street parking on the right side of Church Street.

From the south: take I-285 east/north to Church Street/Clarkston. Exit & turn left at the end of the ramp. Go 1 mile to the 1st stop light & turn right. Make an immediate left onto Ponce de Leon. Go 2 ½ miles down Ponce de Leon to Church Street in downtown Decatur. Turn left onto Church Street. Go ¼ mile down Church Street to the very end. The Decatur School of Ballet is the last building on the right side of Church Street. Park anywhere in the studio parking lot. There is also street parking on the right side of Church Street.

On MARTA- take the east line to the Decatur station. Exit the station at Church Street & turn right. Walk about 1/4 mile & you'll see the studio on the right at the very end of Church Street.

To Harmony Learning Center- Harmony Learning Center is in the Williamsburg Professional Center near the intersection of N. Druid Hills Road and Clairmont Road. It is convenient to both I-85 and I-285. From the north: Take I-285 east/south to Highway 78 west (toward Decatur). Exit at Druid Hills Road and turn right at the end of the ramp. Go approximately 2 miles down Druid Hills Road to Clairmont Road and turn left. Go to the first stop light and turn left. The Williamsburg Profressional Center will be on your left, less than ¼ mile from the intersection. Turn into the professional center and park in front of building # 1989 (2nd building on the right). Go inside the main door - we are downstairs in suite F.
